Ormond Beach police are urging citizens to use caution after several residents spotted coyotes near the beach this week.

OBPD spokesman Keith Walker told the Daytona Beach News-Journal that that the department is urging its citizens "not to approach coyotes and to keep a close eye on your smaller pets."

So far, there have been four coyotes sightings near the beach. However, authorities aren't sure if it's the same animal are four different ones.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, coyotes are found in all 67 Florida counties, and while they do not typically pose much of a threat to adults, they will most definitely take the opportunity to pick off your little yappy dog, or any trash you leave behind on the beach.
