Daytona Beach saw a spring break high this year, reports
WFTV. Spring break 2016 marked the largest horde of way-too-excited teenagers and 20-something-year-olds the city has had to deal with in 10 years.
Officials suspect that the sudden migration was a result of Panama City banning on-the-beach drinking, which actually makes a lot of sense.
According to the
Daytona Beach News-Journal, more than 400 people were arrested, and 125 fake IDs were confiscated between March 1 and March 25. This is a huge spike from last year's spring break, which only saw 95 arrests.
Volusia County beach safety ocean rescue Capt. Tammy Marris is unsure whether the crowds will increase even more next year, stating that the city won't have an idea until hotel rooms start filling up.
