6-foot gator removed from Ocala elementary school

A trapper with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission was called in to remove an alligator from the campus of an Ocala elementary school yesterday.

According to the Ocala Star Banner, the gator was found at Shady Hill Elementary School at around 7:30 a.m., Aug. 24. "No children were in the area at the time of the discovery," school district spokesman Kevin Christian said.

The Marion County Public School Twitter account added that the "critter" was found near a retention pond and was safely relocated.
