Watch "Do It Yourself: The Story of Rough Trade" for Free

Fan of The Smiths? The Slits? The Raincoats? The Belle and Sebastian? Wait...

Anyway, what do they have in common, aside from being great? They're all released by Rough Trade Records, the London-based "indie" superlabel.

Anyone who is a fan of music should be able to appreciate this documentary (except you, metalheads and hippity hoppers).

Rough Trade is one of the giants in the history of record producing. They were the original model for labels like Sub Pop, IRS Records and Merge, who all specialize (or specialized) in just releasing bands they liked, not bands they thought would sell a ton.
