When Dungen's Gustav Ejstes recorded Ta Det Lugnt a few years back, he did it largely by himself, working feverishly to create the album's thrilling '67-era smashups. Additional studio hands are again a rarity on Tio Bitar. Ejstes' sun-kissed Swedish vocals fight an impenetrable swirl of organs and guitar leads on 'Familj, but his 'Mon Amour blasts filthy Creation-esque riff rock and a powerhouse of a rhythm section. In avoidance of the often-generated '60s retreads, descending-scale chords meet a sudden, lethargic chorus on the beautiful 'Svart är Himlen, and nearing its close, Dungen's Tio Bitar is revealed to be another astonishing trip for Ejstes, even as he often travels alone.
