Streetlight Manifesto, a seven-piece ska creation made from bits of Jersey faves Catch 22 and One Cool Guy, picks up right where they left off with their 2006 rerecording of Catch 22’s ska classic Keasbey Nights: They made another Catch 22 album. Snarling frontman Tomas Kalnoky proves he hasn’t lost his lyrical touch, but Between starts to lose its steam in a haze of obnoxiously upbeat horns and endless trumpet solos, until finally metastasizing into a lifeless aural lump. “They will not remember this song,” Kalnoky chides on “Down, Down, Down to Mephisto’s Café,” (originally written for Catch 22, naturally), but perhaps “I can not forget my old band” would have been more appropriate.
