This week: Purple Kloud

“I really like getting into that stank-gritty underground sound that no one can explain, but can feel the high energy within the album. When I’m out promoting shows, I listen to the album Icky Thump by the White Stripes. Jack White is one of my biggest influences for guitar playing and using customized sound effects to add to my performance. My favorite song on that album is ‘Effect and Cause.’ That track is my motivational eargasm because it’s a bouncy, western-sounding melody about the importance of not blaming the world for stupid mistakes, especially if they’re yours. My second favorite song is the mosh-pit ballroom roughness of ‘I’m Slowly Turning Into You,’ which makes you want to climb on top of something high just to see if you have the grapes to jump off.”
