What local artists are listening to

This week: The Kidney Stones

Chris Hayden (guitars) – "I usually have my iPod on shuffle, so that can range from Slayer to Neil Diamond. I have, however, been beating the latest Mastodon record to death – so much that our accordionist (who's also my roommate) knows all the lyrics. I've also been listening to a lot of Sun Kil Moon. His guitar style reminds me a lot of Nick Drake with the array of tunings and his finger-picking."

Dos LaFlamme (bass) – "Mastodon is in my CD player, and I can't get enough of WUCF-FM 89.9 – basically most jazz I enjoy, particularly Wes Montgomery and John Pizzarelli. It comes from playing it when I was young with my father and grandfather. I also always rotate some Deftones into the mix."

Local "pub-core" act Kidney Stones play, appropriately, Will's Pub 8 p.m. Saturday, July 7.
Admission is $5.
