Review - Paraphernalia

Artist: Enuff Z'nuff

First thing is, yes, this is the same band some of you might remember from your hair-metal days. Although Enuff Z'nuff is constantly linked to the bands of that period, new CD "Paraphernalia" shows that they are clearly focused on the future: hook-laden pop-rock. The disc opens with "Freak," an aggressive rocker with a great beat and a Zeppelin-esque vibe (one of several tracks to feature Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen on guitar). The next track "Top of the Hill" layers beautiful harmonies over driving chords and drums.

Each song showcases just enough technical ability, but not enough to ruin it. Enuff Z'nuff's still got the stuff.
