Sad to say, but the rap game hasn't changed a whole lot since Styles of Beyond blew heads off with their millennial debut, "2000 Fold." Sure, the bling has gotten blingier and the underground has gotten more desperate, but the wholesale change of scenery that SOB seemed to be a vanguard for has yet to materialize. Hopefully, "Megadef" -- which finds the duo ratcheting up their brash style even further -- will again prime the pump for some creative change. With straightforward production and some venomous rhyming, the halcyon days of the late '90s underground are forgotten and the pre-apocalyptic tone Tak and Ryu take toes the line between beat club and beatdown. Nice.
