Review - I Com

Artist: Miss Kittin

Miss Kittin is Caroline Hervé, a DJ from France, and "I Com" is her full-length solo debut (previous albums have been collaborations or DJ mixes), showcasing a simplistic style of relatively primitive synth beats. The tracks range from electro-punk to electro-based ballads; though all but one of the songs are sung in English, her French heritage shines through. The songs certainly aren't groundbreaking, relying mostly on a vintage '80s style, but "Kiss Factory" -- a catchy, poppy number that allows Hervé to explore her high-end vocal range -- is a particular winner. (Also of note: "3eme Sexe," an Indochine cover tucked away as the very last track.)
