If there’s anything a rabid Ramones fan appreciates, it’s that close-knit crew of bands who nobly pick up where the Ramones left off and keep the train of “oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh-ohs” going full steam ahead. The most recent band to make us feel like blitzkrieg bopping is Portland, Ore.’s Mean Jeans, a goofy punk trio fascinated by outer space who definitely have their own thing going on, while relying on that Ramones base as a blasting-off point. Listen to “I Miss Outer Space” as a primer, for the uninitiated, and if you’re already a fan, visit their Facebook page to check out their madcap, mustachioed skeleton tour T-shirt design. Their live show is famed for setting off the crowd in a sorta sweaty supernova, so it’d probably be wise if you showed up with their song “Don’t Stop Partying” as your silly mantra for the night. – Ashley Belanger
