The first-ever Rolling Loud festival held in Miami (Feb. 28) was one for the books. After much anticipation, the all-day festival (put on by Orlando’s own Dope Entertainment) was memorable and set a standard for future iterations of the hip-hop festival to come.

Growing up, we are always told that nothing ever goes as planned, however we also like to entertain the opposite of Murphy’s Law, “If anything can go well, it will.” Both sentiments applied on Saturday when the gates opened at Soho Studios in Miami’s artistic Wynwood district. Gray clouds filled the Miami sky as storm-cloud artillery rained over the hundreds of fans waiting in line early to secure a good spot inside.

Due to the downpour, set times began to fall all out of schedule, but the show must (and did) go on. When we passed through the doors to head up to the main stage, we were immediately submerged into a thick cloud of smoke (enough to cause an instant contact high for non-smokers). But concertgoers knew what they were getting into when buying tickets to attend a festival called “Rolling Loud” (a slang term for very potent marijuana). Between three stages, approximately 7,000 hip-hop fans piled in, shoulder-to-shoulder, to watch what was a dream line-up for many. (F.Y.I.: Since attendance surpassed Dope Ent’s goal, 6,500 tickets, Rolling Loud will be returning to Miami in 2016!)

Fan favorites like Curren$y, Action Bronson, A$AP Ferg, Robb Bank$, & Travi$ Scott had crowd engagement down to a science, leading exhausted fans to lose their minds during sets throughout the 12-hour event. When we weren’t protecting our camera from flying elbows, water bottles or other penalties of raging with the crowd, we got some pretty awesome photographs of our favorite performers of the night.
