Last fall, local guys Saskatchewan generated a fair amount of blog buzz for their summer-released single “Dreamboat,” a toe-tapping contribution that could be absorbed nicely into any dream-pop collection. The two most recent songs on Divine Kind stray from that sugary tone-setter and signal a shift that introduces dragged-out, somewhat foreboding melodies that are lightened by a snap and crackle provided by synths and simplistic percussion. There’s something about this pair of songs that calls to mind the experience of sitting near a bonfire and ignoring those around you while you quietly observe the flames. It’s appropriate for fall, so it makes sense they took these new songs on the road in November. This show gives Orlando a chance to welcome them home from a 12-city excursion, with just one lingering Tampa date serving as an end-cap to their tour. – Ashley Belanger
