Offbeat indie pop boundary pushers Of Montreal play the Abbey this weekend

Purveyors of the wild and zany Of Montreal will soon be serving up another refreshingly danceable show to fanatics in the City Beautiful. Their tour is kicking off with four Florida dates this very week as part of a longer trek extending through the end of June. Vocalist Kevin Barnes writes that during the making of last year’s White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood, more of a solo project than albums from the past, he “became ‘Simulated Reality’ paranoid and fell in love,” composing a full-length album that is ambitiously rhythmic throughout, reminiscent of extended singles from the ’80s. The spring tour is an anti-white supremacy campaign in disguise, so put on your dancing shoes and groove to some hip liberal rhetoric.
