Wow. Three great local shows tonight:

Saturday, June 2

Chaka Khan [The Parliament House] - Among all the DJ-centric Gay Days stuff, you can always count on one of the Parliament House shows being that of a top-shelf diva who can actually sing. This year, the presence of the almighty Chaka Khan pretty much eclipses everything else. (I apologize for the crap visual quality of that video, but damn ... that's the jam, right?)

Scion Rock Fest 2012 with Merzbow, Down, Sleep, Exodus, Repulsion, Cerebral Ballzy and more [Tampa] - If anything is worth driving to Tampa for, this show is it. I mean, it's like "HOLY SHIT" times 20.

Girls on the Beach, Beach Day, Hot Hands, Suede Dudes [Will's Pub]

Sunday, June 3

In C [Urban ReThink] - The Accidental Music Festival continues on in a very un-festival-like, but still quite awesome manner; this show finds the AMF folks bringing together local musicians to perform Terry Riley's In C. This is a very excellent thing, both for its ambition and the sheer lulz that are likely to happen as the occasional hapless Thornton Park pre-yuppie stumbles in, fully unsuspecting of what's going on.

Beartrap, Abuse, Portals, Direct Effect, Throat Dump [Will's Pub] - You need to check out Abuse's new record, a split with Arc and Panther. It's now available for streaming over on their Bandcamp page.
