Saturday, October 1st - Hard Rock's 40th Birthday Bash: The Downtown Throwdown

Hard Rock International is turning 40. Unlike most people turning 40, this person is extremely excited about it... and yes, a company legally has the same rights as a person so let's get rid of the word company from this point on. Rock, the 40 year old businessman/woman responsible for hoarding the coolest memorabilia in rock 'n' roll history, will be celebrating the day he/she was cut from Momma's umbilical in an event called The Downtown Throwdown. The free event will feature live music from some of your most favoritist bands like Collective Soul, Everclear, DMC of Run DMC fame, Son of A Bad Man, and even local rockers Plane Jane Automobile and Big 10-4. It will be held across 4 different venues downtown including a stage on Washington St. and Wall St., The Beacham Theatre, and The Social on Saturday, October 1st. There will also be a tour bus chock full of memorabilia. It starts at 3pm and is open to all ages.

Now here's the super cool part, Hard Rock is inviting local area bands from Orange and Seminole County schools to submit to win a chance to play the concert and $10,000 for their school's arts program. The "Rock" is asking up and coming bands to record a rendition of any song from their birth year of ye ole 1971. The best submission will win the aforementioned prize. Told ya it was pretty cool. So all you youngsters, send your renditions to [email protected] and visit www.hardrock.com/40thbirthdaybash for official rules and details.
