Over the course of the past decade, give or take, Langhorne Slim has evolved from bluegrass-picking troubadour to the linchpin in an impressively tight folk-rock band. His latest album, The Spirit Moves, trades in the old-timeyisms that marked much of his early output for driving rhythms and a self-awareness that feels more current and immediate. Slim says that this is the first album he’s recorded while completely sober, and the lyrics, often addressing important life changes, seem to reflect that. We’re looking forward to seeing if that newfound focus makes its way forward when Langhorne Slim & the Law take the stage at the Social.
