After the coups of booking Kevin Saunderson and Matthew Dear, Detroit producer and DJ Carl Craig is the next electronic music icon that Protocol is bringing to downtown Orlando's Elixir. The techno legend is coming to town as part of an official pre-party for Detroit's annual Movement dance music fest.

Craig is a voracious and restless dancefloor innovator - trying his hand at ever beat-driven subgenre (ambient, house, modular synth, drum & bass), and pushing his own music forward with an ever-expanding palette of influences. Craig started releasing music in 1989 and struck gold in 1992 with "Bug in the Bassbin," released as Innerzone Orchestra. And from there it's been a nonstop flood of releases under a multiplicity of project names, collaborations, DJ gigs and remixes.

Carl Craig plays Elixir courtesy of Protocol on Saturday, May 11, at 10 p.m. Tickets are a paltry $10-$15. And, as usual, no phones or cameras allowed.
