Arcade Fire released Afterlife, the second single from their upcoming double album Reflektor today as a lyric video on Vevo. The album plays heavily on the themes laid out in the Greek myth of Orpheus, the poet musician who traveled to the underworld to bring back his lost love, Eurydice, only to lose her again to his own anxieties. The cover features a sculpture of the pair by Rodin.
While the band have leaned heavily on their experiences in Haiti after the earthquake, the video features clips from Marcel Camus's samba-infused take on the Orpheus tale, Black Orpheus, which transplants the ill-fated lovers to carnival in Rio de Janeiro with, obviously, an all black cast to match Win Butler's questions about death.

Black Orpheus was recently released on bluray by Criterion.
Reflektor will be released October 29th.
