Smile for Camera is at it again. The promotion company responsible for more club nights than there are iterations of Star Wars has recently set up shop at BackBooth for a new Monday night, aptly titled Mondaze. This time around they decided to go with a less conventional format. The event centers on nu disco and dream wave.

Purist fans of those genres may be dissatisfied that the format also includes indie rock and electropop, but they can take solace in the fact that resident DJs Adam Wright & Cliff Tangredi take requests and are well-versed in the genres at hand. For those not yet acclimated with the sounds of nu disco and dream wave, the inclusion of a familiar indie rock or electropop track may serve as a comfort zone for those unprepared for a full night of nu disco. Nu disco has been popular throughout Europe and Australia for years, but has yet to make a significant impact in North America. Perhaps, with Mondaze nu disco can at least leave an impression on Orlando. The night has certainly caught quite a bit of attention already. Particularly the second night was a sea of seldom seen faces. It seems as if everyone wants to check out the successor to Crush.
