TastyChomps' Ricky Ly shares his Food Lovers' Guide to Orlando at Herndon Library

Saturday, April 6 – Local Orlando Restaurant Chefs and Their Recipes

2 p.m.

Orange County Library, Herndon Branch

4324 E. Colonial Drive

Ricky Ly of TastyChomps is one of our favorite hustlers. The UCF grad has turned something most of us have – a deep enjoyment of eating out – into a local mini-empire with TastyChomps.com, his website packed with casual reviews of local eateries and food news. But his inexhaustible social media presence is what made it blow up: Ly’s on Facebook and Twitter and YouTube, of course, but also omnipresent on Urbanspoon, Yelp, the CHOW message boards, and anywhere else people are talking about food. That spun off into a book, Food Lovers’ Guide to Orlando, which came out in February, an indispensable guide for local eaters – crammed with not just reviews but lists of local markets, magazines, blogs, events and recipes. Ly will discuss (and sell) the book at the Orange County library’s Herndon Branch (conveniently located near SEA Thai, page 99). He’s hoping to snag a local chef to demo one of the recipes from the book, as well, and we’ve got faith that he will: Like we said, kid’s got hustle. – Jessica Bryce Young
