Tamale Co. moves to the Hourglass District, Hawkers to hawk brunch in Windermere and more in Orlando foodie news

OPENINGS: Bread & Co., an artisanal bakery with Korean and Asian leanings, is now serving cakes, pastries, breads and a bevy of baked goods (love those banana baked donuts) in the old Wonton Asian Kitchen space on West Fairbanks Avenue ... Signature India has opened on South OBT near Central Florida Parkway with a decent selection of chaat ... Beth's Burger Bar, which closed its downtown location in December of last year, will open an outpost in the Griffin Farm plaza off Lake Mary Boulevard later this summer ... Look for Reuben Schiffman's Delicatessen to open on State Road 436 in Casselberry at the end of the month ... Barnie's Coffee & Tea has opened inside the Jewish Community Center in Maitland serving coffee, smoothies and freezers, as well as baked goods ... Over at the Maitland City Centre, 407 Gelato is aiming to open by early summer ... Metro Diner officially opens its Hunter's Creek café on April 30 ... Nearby, Don Pepito Tropical Eatery has opened on West Vine Street in Kissimmee.

CLOSINGS/MOVES: O'Charley's in the Phillips Crossing plaza on Turkey Lake Road has closed after 14 years in that location ... The Windermere Peach Valley Café on Dr. Phillips Boulevard has closed; other area locations of the chain remain open ... Tamale Co. Take Out in the Citgo gas station in Altamonte Springs has closed. Look for Tamale & Co.'s Hourglass District location to open any day now.

NEWS: Hawkers Asian Street Fare in Windermere rolls out its brunch menu starting May 4 and 5. Look for soup dumplings (yes), Japanese souffle pancakes, Hong Kong waffles and more.

EVENTS: The third annual Cocoa Beach Uncorked featuring food, wine and craft beer goes from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 27-28, at Alan Shepard Park. Tickets are $65, or $85 VIP ... Wine Barn in Winter Park hosts a paella and wine tasting Tuesday, April 30, from 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Cost is $30 ($24 if you don't want wine). For reservations, email [email protected] ... Ruth's Chris' third "TasteMaker Dinner" May 2-3 will feature a five-course menu paired with wines from the Prisoner Wine Company. Cost is $110 ... Chef Josh Oakley of 1921 Mount Dora welcomes Cress Restaurant's Hari Pulapaka for a five-course meal May 9 highlighting the bounty of Florida. Some of the dishes to expect: root vegetable vichyssoise, herb-crusted snapper and sausage-stuffed quail. Cost is $155.
