Stuffed tummies serve as reminder

It's been a tough year on the local economy and many people are cutting back on the extras in favor of the necessaries. For too many people in our community, food is a necessity that's not always easy to find.

The bustling Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida www.foodbankcentralflorida.org) distributes more than 12,000,000 pounds of food in a year to people in 11 counties who need a good dinner a lot more than most of us. Out of the $24 million it raised in 2002, more than $23 million went directly into feeding people. If the government worked that well, we wouldn't need the continual efforts of America's Second Harvest, the national organization that's working to feed minds as well as mouths (www.secondharvest.org).

But we do, and hunger doesn't end after the holidays. To help, give a call or donation to the local Second Harvest, (407) 295-1066.
