Raise a glass to Big Apple art

New York City is the epicenter of modern art, but it also is fertile ground for epicurean adventurers. So it's fitting that art, libations and hors d'oeuvres converge in an evening series, "Appetite for Art: New York, New York," at Orlando Museum of Art (2416 N. Mills Ave.).

The series, which began in February with "bathtub gin" cocktails and a discussion of the Armory Show of 1913, continues with "Modern Architecture and Beer" on March 6. Sample premium beers and make a toast to all those hard-hatted construction workers who built the Chrysler Building, a monument to the Art Deco movement. On April 3, there's "Jackson Pollock, the New York School and Martinis," and the series wraps up with "Art at Auction with The Manhattan Cocktail" on May 15.

The 7:30 p.m. programs are followed by a gallery tour. The cost is $50 for nonmembers and $45 for members. Call (407) 896-4231, ext. 262.
