Aside from its growing familiarity, the farm-to-table movement really shouldn’t be considered one of those soon-to-fade memes. More so it’s become an integral part of our mealtimes – and for farmers, a means to make a living. In that same vein, A Local Folkus (the crew behind the Winter Park Harvest Fest) spreads the locavore seed this week by hosting the Winter Garden Harvest Festival. The evening’s Farm-to-Table Dinner headlines the daylong festivities with an epicurean feast prepared by Winter Garden chefs and crafted entirely with locally sourced fixings – from the fresh greens in the salads to the meat in the entrees and the booze in the beer and spirits. Can’t muster up $75 for a ticket? Then head straight to the festival’s farmers market and get your fill of fresh ingredients to make your own farm-to-table meal at home. While grocery shopping you might even stop by one of the gardening workshops, or take a seat on the grass to hear a live bluegrass/folk ditty or two. – Aimee Vitek
