So, what, it’s not enough that Tony Mantuano – possibly one of the nicest chefs ever to quickfire on Top Chef Masters, proving that King Jerk Chef Syndrome isn’t inevitable – is offering to feed you? You want him to show you how to make the dishes too? Oh, and you want it all to be local, and sustainable, and maybe there could also be cocktails. Well, fine – you get it all. The executive chefs of Downtown Disney’s Portobello restaurant (Mantuano and Steven Richard) present a five-course demonstration menu inspired by their local farm partners and purveyors; samples of the dishes will be paired with cocktails from Portobello’s fall menu. Learning how to pickle okra, pull pizza dough and roast a perfect chicken thigh, all with drink in hand, sure beats watching cooking shows on the couch. – Jessica Bryce Young
