Out of the bottle and into the night

A cool, crisp autumn night, live jazz in a garden house overlooking moonlit Lake Rowena -- that's the setting for the Third Annual Wine Tasting at Harry P. Leu Gardens (1920 N. Forest Ave.) from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13.

Jazz group Indigo City, recently featured at the Montreux Jazz Festival, will set the mood as guests sample more than 60 whites, reds, rosés, ports and champagnes, reflecting a panorama of varieties and countries. The wines are from Dexter's of Winter Park and Thornton Park, which will round out the spread with hors d'oeuvres from their kitchens.

Exotic orchids will be offered in a silent auction. Admission is $35 per person (prepaid reservations will be accepted until 5 p.m. the day of the event) or $40 at the door. Proceeds benefit Leu Gardens. Call 246-2620.
