One doesn't go to Garibaldi Mexican Restaurant (929 N. Semoran Blvd.; 407-275-5035) for atmosphere. It's the downright delicious Mexican food that reels in crowds. Nonetheless, they recently spiffed up the place with outdoor cafe seating and a fountain.
The new location in Apopka is another matter entirely (2279 E. Semoran Blvd., Apopka; 407-814-7103). It's several times larger and roomy enough to play host to mariachi bands 7 p.m.-10 p.m. Satur-days. After just two months, the "Mexican fiestas" are turning into a quite a festive scene.
Both locations share the same menu, which is being updated to include new creations such as the "Garibaldi quesadilla" ($4.95), with white Chihuahua cheese, grilled ham, onions, tomatoes and jalapeños. There also is a new version of "fajitas Garibaldi" ($11) that blends chorizo sausage, beef and chicken, topped with dollops of guacamole salad.
