Market report: Cotton Candy grapes have arrived at Publix

As you can see, people get pretty excited when the designer Cotton Candy grape hits the shelves at Publix, and they're there now.

If you've never had them, close your eyes, pop one in your mouth, and prepare to be transported to wherever your favorite spun-sugar memory resides: the fair, the beach, a sports game. It's uncanny.

These grapes are a hybrid of two different varieties, like pluots or peacherines, and have about 12 percent more sugar than your average green or red grape.

The Grapery, which produces and distributes the Cotton Candy variety, is a non-GMO farm and the likes of Ryan Seacrest, the Today Show, NPR and Good Morning America have all gushed over the little sweetmeats.

Rumor has it that the Grapery is also trying out hybrid grapes that taste like strawberry, mango and pineapple, but no word on when those will make an appearance, if they ever do.

Cotton Candy grapes are available at Publix now for $3.99 a pound, and according to the produce manager at the Winter Park Village location, will be on sale next week.
