Kadence, new restaurant by Kappo founders, opens Friday in Audubon Park

Friends, Orlandoans, lovers of all things Nihon, lend me your ears.

Lordfer Lalicon, Mark Berdin and Jennifer Banagale, the trio behind such Japanese-inspired outfits as Kappo and Konbini, announced they will open Kadence, their much-anticipated Audubon Park omakase restaurant, TODAY.

There's no signage on the restaurant, so if you're wondering where it is, just look for the all-black edifice next to the ABC Fine Wine & Spirits on Winter Park Road. The happy gams peeping out from the restaurant's unique floor-level window will give you a sense as to how busy it is.

As we reported back in April, the restaurant will seat just nine people and serve a superlative sushi omakase. Two seatings will be offered Tuesdays through Saturdays: 6 p.m. (for $130) and 8:30 p.m. (for $145). Dinners will comprise 18+ courses.

On Sundays, three seatings will be offered: 11:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. for a cost of $75. These "Kappo-style" tastings will comprise 7+ courses and offer both raw and cooked dishes.

Future plans call for additional seating in the back of the restaurant for grander omakase experiences, and come mid- to late-October, Kadence will open for lunch, offering one seating (time TBD).

All three are certified sake professionals, so you can bet proper-good sake will be poured during lunch and dinner hours. Needless to say, they're promising a sake selection that's second to none.
