Doing the town, hold the meat

Eating healthy on the road is a challenge, especially in tourist towns. The problem can be particularly ugly for vegetarians whose needs aren't satisfied by the addition of lettuce, tomato and onion on a burger bun. But now there's help: "Vegetarian Walt Disney World and Greater Orlando," a dandy little guide to area eateries that are veggie friendly.

Disney properties take up the lion's share of pages, followed by briefer sections on Universal Orlando and other area restaurants (though it skimps on upscale entries). The writing is cheeky and informative, but the authors kiss a bit too much Mouse ass for my taste. Still, there is much useful information, such as the insider's tidbit about Florida Hospital's excellent and very cheap vegetarian cafeteria. Even carnivores will enjoy this dining resource, published by Vegetarian World Guides.
