Big Easy will open second restaurant location in Windermere

Big Easy will open second restaurant location in Windermere
The good times and New Orleans flavor will soon be rolling in Windermere.

Owners of the Big Easy announced Monday they plan to open a second location of their Cajun-Creole restaurant in January 2018, according to the Windermere Observer.

The location will replaced the now-closed Caprino’s Italian restaurant space in the Lakeside Village Plaza at 7782 Winter Garden Vineland Road in Windermere.

The new 5,000-square-foot eatery will serve similar items to their original Winter Garden location's menu, with dishes like shrimp and grits, jambalaya, gumbo and po-boys.

Decor in festive Mardi Gras colors of purple, green and gold will be used throughout the new space, which includes an outdoor patio and bar area.

Although happy hour specials will be offered, the owners plan to create a family-friendly atmosphere in the restaurant.

"It’s a big decision, but it was in a great location, and there aren’t many good New Orleans style home cooking restaurants down there," owner Morgan Jimenez told the Winderemere Observer. "I was born and raised in New Orleans, so it’s the real deal. But eventually we’d like to franchise The Big Easy, so that’s why we’re opening a new location."

Earlier this year, the Big Easy owners also opened Casa Jimenez, a Latin American restaurant, in Windermere.
