Beer and Bacon Festival, Bubbles and Ice Dessert Bar, new restaurants at Chase Plaza and Millenia Krispy Kreme reopens

Bubbles and Ice, a sweet shop run by the owners of Noodles & Rice Café, has opened next door on Mills Avenue. Apart from boba tea, this self-described “ultimate dessert bar” presents assorted waffles, cheesecakes, fried desserts, smoothies and shaved snow for your sweet tooth. For the health-conscious, fresh juices are also offered.

In a match made in Homer Simpson’s heaven, Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte hosts the Beer and Bacon Festival 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, featuring craft brews from the likes of Goose Island, Sweetwater, Kona and Florida Beer Company, as well as bacon-related eats by 4Rivers Smokehouse, Ruth’s Chris, the Hammered Lamb, Tako Cheena, Terramia and more. Tickets are $25 ($35 at the gate) and include all-you-can-drink craft beer. Bacon bites will cost $2-$6 per plate.

To celebrate the grand opening of her shop at East End Market, Tonda Corrente Nazario, aka La Femme du Fromage, hosts a wine and cheese pairing class. Noted cheese scholar Max McCalman helms the event, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at EEM. Cost is $42.60.

Kasa Tapas & Raw Bar, the latest concept from the Bento Group (Bento Sushi, Avenue Gastrobar, Mochi Frozen Yogurt), opens Nov. 14 in the former Urban Flats space in Chase Plaza. Chef Sean Kaplan and Food Network Star contestant Josh Lyons are the culinary brains behind the “global small plates modern restaurant.” Also at the Chase: The Horsepower Bar and Grill has finally opened in the old Pipers location. Next door, the final touches are being made to Meltz, a hip sandwicherie set to open in a couple of weeks.


A Taste of Orlando celebrates its 14th year at Waterford Lakes 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 2 … Another Broken Egg Café plans to take over the former Truffles Grill space at Winter Park Village in early 2014 … A sixth Graffiti Junktion is open in the Springs shopping plaza in Longwood; look for an Eden’s Fresh Co. there in January … After a fire shut it down, the Krispy Kreme across the Mall at Millenia has reopened. Get your (really) hot doughnuts now.
