Best Reason to Lie Down in Public Spaces: Black Lives Matter protests downtown

Best Reason to Lie Down in Public Spaces
Last year, tensions boiled over after a series of judgments were made in favor of white cops attacking black civilians, specifically in the national cases of Mike Brown and Eric Garner. The #blacklivesmatter movement struck a nerve in Central Florida, based on the previous stand-your-ground cases of Trayvon Martin and Marissa Alexander. On several occasions, Orlando residents stood in solidarity with the movement, most notably outside the Amway Center in December, where more than 100 protesters marched after walking the core of downtown in order to lie down and hold a “die-in.” If it seems a bit too symbolic or demonstrative, try standing around a mass of people screaming “I can’t breathe” and see if it doesn’t break your heart. It should. It did ours.
