NBA basketball players are no strangers when it comes to making fashion statements. Anyone remember Dennis Rodman? That wedding gown still haunts our nightmares.
Anyway, we’re in the midst of the 2012 NBA finals, and with all sports eyes on them, now seems like a suitable time as any for pro basketball players to strut their finest style.
While certainly not as outlandish as Rodman’s infamous getups, Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade’s signature swag continues to be his rims – meaning eyewear, of course. (Wade’s performance in Game 1 was less than stellar when compared to LeBron James’ impressive 30 points.) At a post-game press conference last week, Wade rocked a pair of black tortoise frames from Miami-based Edward Beiner Purveyor of Fine Eyewear.
The style, called Merrick, is from Beiner’s Spring-Summer 2012 collection. And lucky for us (OK, if you’re a Dwyane Wade fan living in Orlando), the frames are available at Edward Beiner’s store at The Mall at Millenia. We couldn’t find a price on the company’s website, but really, when it comes to gaining NBA swag, is there a price too high? We didn’t think so.
The Miami Heat will take on the Oklahoma City Thunder (leading 1-0 in the series) tonight in Game 2 of the NBA Finals (9 p.m. on ABC).
Oh, and yes, in fact, Dwyane Wade is a fashion-induced four eyes. Last year, he underwent Lasik eye surgery in Miami to correct his vision.
