Yes, with great power comes great usage rights.
Universal's shadow of Marvel is a little murky, but Orlando Weekly theme-park blogger Ken Storey did a nice job summarizing it all here:
Back in the 1990s, long before Marvel was acquired by Disney, they signed an impressively tight contract with Universal for the rights to the characters in use within theme park attractions. The contract limits the use of the characters on the east coast of the country to Universal Orlando with even tighter restrictions within a 60-mile radius of the Orlando parks. The contract does have a few stipulations, like ensuring upkeep of the rides, but overall is definitely more favorable to Universal than Marvel. The new buffet-style, booze-free dinner is will take place at the Cafe 4 restaurant beginning Thursday, Dec. 7, in Universal's Islands of Adventure.
Marvel fans, or anyone who appreciates a good troll, will get a chance to hang with Spider-Man, Captain America, Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm and Rogue while they snap photos and sign autographs.
The character dinner, which only runs Thursday-Sunday, will cost you $49.99 ($24.99 for kids 3-9), on top of park admission. More information can be found here.
