One of the best parts of Snap each year is discovering (or rediscovering) Central Florida talents. This year Snap’s Homegrown exhibit shows fewer artists than in previous years (when we saw a dozen or more), but they are judiciously and well chosen, and the narrower field allows for more depth in displaying each photographer’s work. Borr’s submersions perfectly illustrate the liquid Florida summertime, while Levy and Potteiger go deep to chronicle cultures outside our day-to-day. Minnich and Maiorov (a Cirque du Soleil performer) capture places and faces in decisive moments. The opening night of this year’s Homegrown photo exhibit coincides with the Orlando Museum of Art’s 1st Thursday monthly art party. The exhibit will be on view at OMA through May 23.
