Selection Reminder: Simply Streisand... Holiday Memories at Wayne Densch!

Saturday, Dec. 17Simply Streisand... Holiday Memories

We can’t help but wonder what happened first: Did Carla DelVillaggio look in the mirror one day and realize that she bore an uncanny resemblance to Barbra Streisand, then hone her singing voice to mimic that of Babs, or did she realize she sounded like Streisand so much that she ought to try to look enough like her to turn it into a regular gig? Either way, she’s managed to pull it off well enough that she travels the country impersonating Streisand (we’d call it “covering,” but somehow that word doesn’t go far enough in describing how into the Streisand persona DelVillaggio delves), putting on shows at parties, in synagogues, at clubs and at 55+ communities, and this weekend she’s doing a show at the Wayne Densch where she’ll amaze and delight and maybe even creep some people out with the Simply Streisand-ness of it all. Bring your favorite 55+ with you and save them a trip to the next synagogue show – Erin Sullivan (7:30 p.m. at Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center, 201-203 S. Magnolia Ave., Sanford; $20-$27; 407-321-8111; wdpac.com)
