Zine culture seems to be experiencing a bit of a renaissance locally, with releases of homemade publications like Tittie-Thyme and Is It Over Yet? becoming anticipated events. Even the American Library Association devoted a section to the creation and curation of Florida zines at its national convention a few weeks ago. This week, aspiring zine-makers get the chance to learn about making their own zines and comics from local artists Anna Cruz and Adam Lavigne. The pair leads a hands-on workshop that focuses on teaching drawing and collage techniques along with a discussion about DIY publishing. You may end up going home with a little zine of your own to show your friends. And since this is part of OMA’s Art Night Out series, you even get a free cocktail to get your creative juices flowing. Just sign up quickly, as spots are limited.
