More modern classical notes: Last week, local composer Charlie Griffin launched a modern classical show on WPRK (91.5 FM). Zero Crossing airs 2-4 p.m. Mondays; featured composers thus far have included Philip Glass, Steve Reich and Tobias Picker. The show “will be dedicated to playing the best in contemporary classical and crossover music, with a focus on American music but also on local,” Griffin says, adding that he plans to play works by Tina Davidson, Lisa Bielawa, Paul Schoenfield, Eleonor Sandresky and Arvo Pärt, as well as Florida composers including Dan Crozier, Christopher Marshall, Ladislav Kubik and himself. “I’ll do in-person, in-depth interviews with local composers, and eventually phone interviews with composers out of the area.” In the meantime, play-lists can be found at facebook.com/wprkzero.
