NBA all-star and activist Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will appear at Rollins next April

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the 7-foot-tall athlete and activist, will appear at Rollins College for a talk next April.

His book Writings on the Wall – Searching for a New Equality Beyond Black and White, released last year, discusses his perspectives on the racial and political divide in America along with his experiences as an African-American Muslim athlete.

On April 4, he'll present his talk "Writings on the Wall: An Evening With Kareem Abdul-Jabbar," in the Warden Arena at the Alfond Sports Center. Tickets are $15-$50.

Abdul-Jabbar is a six-time NBA champ, and the only player in the league to ever earn the title of "Most Valuable Player" six times. After his retirement, he made it a point to become even more of a role model. He's a contributing columnist for notable publications including The Washington Post and Time, and the chairman of his Skyhook Foundation, which brings STEM programs to students in disadvantaged communities. He also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama while he was in office.
