Yeah, your rent is about to go up.
Thrillist posted a list today of the "
Top 12 Neighborhoods Across America About to Get Crazy Popular," and Mills 50 was at the top of the list.
"We tapped trendsetters, developers, and real-estate professionals – folks with their fingers on the pulse of America's cities and towns – for their predictions of the country's next hotspots," writes Matt Meltzer, going on to describe Mills 50 thus: "Like a miniature half-priced Santa Monica, the streets are filled with yoga studios, tattoo shops, and holistic wellness centers. Oh, and with outstandingly eclectic food, thanks to an influx of immigrants from Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Asia."
True enough. The list also calls out Mills 50's murals and painted storm drains and utility boxes, as well as name-checking the District, but – head-scratcher – totally fails to mention Wally's, Will's Pub, our favorite Publix, Snap! Space, Uncomfortable Brunch or the LGBT Center.
Just as well. Why make it easy for all the ex-Brooklynites poised to crowd our streets?
