Urban ReThink : 625 E Central Blvd Orlando, FL, 32801 When: Thursday March 31 6:00-8:00pm Description: This thursday, local Japanese musician, Tomoko Kawahara, will be sharing the unique sound of the 13-stringed Japanese koto, in an intimate concert alongside her sister, Shoko Kawahara. Though Shoko lives and performs in Japan, while Tomoko resides in the U.S., both sisters grew up learning the koto from the age of four under their mother and grandmother, who were traditional Japanese musicians. After prestigious musical education from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts, both sisters gained recognition throughout Japan, and globally, for their respective talents and contributions to modern Japanese music. This thursday, Tomoko and Shoko Kawahara will be uniting at Urban ReThink to share, perform, and discuss Japanese music and culture in Urban ReThink's intimate, creative setting. Enjoy fresh food, drinks, or even a green tea treat from Urban ReThink's adjacent Virgin Olive Market while mingling amidst the music and people. Price: Free! This event is free and open to all ages. All donations will be going to Japan Red Cross in support of relief efforts in Japan.
