Any hotheaded roadside firecracker fiend in a pop-up tent can tell you that there are all kinds of different fireworks. And he’ll throw in sparklers for free if you buy a case of any kind you like. But if you’re interested in a more technical conversation on the force of fireworks and other special effects that are more impressive (not to mention explosive) than a Roman candle, then you’ll want to turn the car around and head instead to the Orange County Regional History Center to hear Universal Orlando Resort’s pyrotechnics and special effects manager Brad Ritti explain what goes into the park’s best displays. It comes early enough for you to possibly pick up some pointers for whatever you may have planned for the Fourth of July, but we’d recommend, if this is your angle on attending, that you pay extra-close attention to any safety tips he might offer up. Sounds like a blast, right? – Ashley Belanger
