We seriously didn’t think Grandma Party, our favorite annual holiday bazaar/celebration of local handmade goods, could tempt us even more – but, with the lineup it’s offering for 2014, it has. The selection of artists, crafters and artisans involved in this year’s event has been tightly curated, and some of our favorite makers will be hawking their wares (Lesley Silvia and her amazing cut-paper pieces, Nathan Selikoff and his super-cool local notebooks, Bee Bolsec and her “unique things,” plus Lure Designs, Post Market Vintage, Vardo Leathers and tons more). In addition, you can get discounted, on-the-spot haircuts from Alchemy salon, bike repairs by Ace Metric and photos taken in the Grandma’s Living Room photo booth, which will be decked out with props and plenty of cardigans for you to pose in. Since Grandma Party is as much an experience as it is a shopping destination, there will also be music – this year’s lineup includes the New Lows, Wet Nurse, the Welzeins, Me Chinese, Fast Preacher and more – and (as always) plenty of spontaneous oddities, good people-watching and beer. Grandma would definitely approve of this party.
