In an investors conference Thursday afternoon, Walt Disney Co. Chief Operating Officer Tom Staggs announced that construction for the highly anticipated Star Wars Lands
will begin next year at Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland Anaheim.
"This will be I think perhaps the most immersive land we've ever built," said Staggs about the purposed 14 acre zone. "We want people to feel like they've stepped into the world of Star Wars and so that's really sparked our imaginations and it's got people fired up."
Speaking at the Bank of America-Merrill Lynch 2015 Media, Communications and Entertainment Conference in Beverly Hills, Staggs did give an opening date for the new attractions.
"This will be I think perhaps the most immersive land we've ever built," said Staggs, pumping up investors beyond belief.
The announcement comes almost a month after
rumors were swirling that this would indeed happen next year. Our theme park blogger Ken Storey runs through all the disturbances in the force
here.
At this point very few details are known. However, Disney Chairman and Chief Executive Robert Iger said Star Wars Lands will include a re-creation of the Millennium Falcon at this year's D23.
