Bite-sized review site Flick250 debuts.

File this one under Things to Keep An Eye On.

Flick250, a beta movie-review site apparently featuring Orlando contributors debuted last week with at least one interesting idea: In addition to "straight-to-the-point" reviews and basic credits, there's a steady Twitter feed on the side referencing the film's hashtagged tweets.

I've felt for a while now – actually, since Ashton Kutcher's Killers, believe it or not, where the divide seemed extra wide – that there can be a massive disconnect between review sites like Rotten Tomatoes and what moviegoers are actually saying on Twitter. OK, critics vs. audience is hardly a new debate, but the echo chambers on both sides have grown exponentially in the last couple of years to the point where the old audience testing model seems just as out-of-date as the old critic-aggregator model. Too many voices fall through the cracks or can be easily misinterpreted/manipulated.

So Flick250 provides a snapshot of both simultaneously: I can read local film buff and the site's co-founder, Joey Wright's (I'm assuming - the reviews aren't bylined) endorsement of The Green Hornet, touting the film's choreography and sharp script, as well as DaRollingStoner's enthusiastic endorsement of the double-barrel Desert Eagle seen in the movie! (He's very excited about that.)

It's very beta at the moment, but put a pin in it. It's a natural evolution.
