Academy Award-winning director and filmmaker Oliver Stone stops by Rollins College this week for a discussion with students and the surrounding community. You might know Stone for his many director and writer credits in the film industry, including Oscar-winning films Born on the Fourth of July (1989) and Platoon (1986). During his brief visit to Central Florida, the director will share stories of his life and career, as well as personal viewpoints about the current state of American and global affairs. He might even have something to say about WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange after his recent visit with the wanted man in London. (Stone subsequently publicly ripped two films due this year about Assange and railed against those who would silence Assange’s right to free speech.) The event is free, and Stone has a reputation for being a fascinating speaker who’s not afraid to tell the world what’s on his mind – and, occasionally, blow minds. – Drexler B. James
