Orlando's new rideshare hubs will open in downtown Friday starting at midnight.

The six-month pilot program is launching a rideshare hub at Magnolia Avenue near Heritage Square and a second hub at Gertrude's Avenue near Jefferson and Washington Streets.

The areas will have dedicated pick-up lanes for Uber, Lyft and cab drivers, plus public restrooms, enhanced lighting, security and food trucks.

Starting on May 3, the hubs will be open every Friday and Saturday from midnight until 3 a.m.

"The hours of operation are based on data showing peak times in downtown when there may be traffic issues," city of Orlando officials say. "Some of these issues may be caused by road closures which can lead to navigation confusion for both downtown patrons and drivers, therefore causing congestion. The goal of the hubs is to reduce this traffic issue."
